The Musicians
Bob Bignell (Bob, Mamwig, Fairfield, 5 Bar Gait)
(Guitar, things to bang and Vocals) Brummie singer, guitarist, barn dance caller, dancer, story teller (especially to his wife) and actor with a fund of one liners, who has been "doing" clubs, pubs, parties, church socials, weddings and funerals almost non-stop since he left school in the late fifties. Enjoys nothing more than a good party (especially when he’s getting paid for it). Bob is the good looking one who wrote this!
John Connor (Mamwig, Fairfield, 5 Bar Gait)
(Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo and Vocals) Singer / songwriter, guitarist, multi - instrumentalist, published poet and author, dancer and actor (in fact, a right clever dick!), with a fund of stories from his native Liverpool and his adopted Newcastle. This bloke can sing songs and tell jokes in six different languages. Younger than Bob (just!) but with years of performing experience behind him across the length and breadth of the country (which country is uncertain)
Mac Rawlins (Fairfield)
(Vocals) The Smethwick sex symbol, Mac has been threatening to play guitar in public for almost as long as there has been a public. Another one with an ear for a good story, he will undoubtedly regale you with his latest joke (privately, if it’s one of those jokes). Mac uses his fine strong voice to good effect on "belters" and ballads alike.
Steve Bach (5 Bar Gait)
(Melodeon, Guitar, Banjo, Vocals) Six foot plus of marathon runner and melodeon player - you can’t miss him. Steve started playing the melodeon at the same time as Bob started calling - some 25 years ago an "hey presto" 5 Bar Gait was formed! He may seem quiet on stage and not say a lot but don’t let that fool you - he’s noisy enough when he gets his banjo out!
Clive Brooks (5 Bar Gait)
(Banjo, Mandolin, Concertina and Vocals) A relative newcomer to the band Clive has been playing to Bromsgrove audiences for a good few years both solo and with various bands. Super musicianship, a fine traditional singer and a thick skin for putting up with all of the banjo jokes from the rest of the band!
