WILD FESTIVAL GOERS 2007
(Gwyneth Titley)
1. We've been to this festival many a year
And we spent all our money on cider and beer,
But when we returned to the site at Stoke Prior,
We found that the green field had turned to a mire.
Chorus:
And it's no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,
Will I sneer at Land Rovers
Or Four by Fours.
2. I went to the ale-house I'd been to before
And the landlord said, " Please leave your boots by the door!"
I ordered a sandwich, but he said, "Bad Luck!"
The only food here is outside on the truck."
Chorus:
3. The concert on Friday had two brilliant bands,
First it was Fairfield, and then Show of Hands.
Fireworks from a distance, went off like a bomb,
And somebody said, "Hey! It's just like the Somme!"
Chorus:
4. As Saturday dawned, it was looking quite bright,
So they cancelled the mud-wrestling, planned for that night.
My sandals were flat, so they acted like boats,
Look! Over the waterlogged field Gwyneth floats
Chorus:
5. The music continued far into the night
Till the rain came again and it worsened their plight.
By Sunday each tent, caravan and big camper
Was stuck in the mud as the weather got damper.
Chorus:
6. The foam flinging contest was washed out, how sad!
With small dry-foam sponges nowhere to be had.
And Bob, in his scarecrow disguise gave a shout,
"We're going for a tractor to tow them all out!"
Chorus:
7. In the marquee the singaround started with quips
As everyone moved around, dodging the drips.
And we had to sing louder than ever before
Each time the big tractor came past with a roar.
Chorus:
8. The festival triumphed, despite all the wet,
And surely is one we will never forget
And year after year let's hold on to the dream
And send a big "Thank you!" to all of the team.
Chorus:
9. We're not climbing up the Sunshine Mountain,
Losing all our cares,
Since the spoilsports from the Risk Assessment,
Stopped us climbing on chairs.
Chorus:
